We will start the visit to the Center of Rome. The visit begin with a tour of the Plaza of Spain with its famous staircase, the Palazzo di Propaganda Fide and the Embassy of Spain to the Holy See. At the foot of the staircase, the Barge of Pietro Bernini, the father of Gian Lorenzo Bernini, Piazza Colonna, here is the Column of Marcus Aurelius and the Chigi Palace the headquarters of the ministry (work of Bernini), The Agrippa’s Pantheon and Piazza Rotonda, Considered the building Roman the best preserved of the city, built in the year 25 a.C. although it was completely rebuilt by Hadrian in 125 d.C. Its interior is impressive thanks to the dome. It contains the tombs of Raffael and members of the Savoy family. DAY 3
After breakfast, we will begin our day with a visit to Piazza Venezia, with palace Venice and the great monument to Victor Emmanuel II of Savoy, first King of Italy “The Vittoriano”; the monument the Unknown Soldier; the Piazza del Campidoglio, head political power in Rome since Roman times. At present there are the Capitoline Museums and the City Hall Square designed by Michelangelo including pavement. In the middle of the square is an equestrian statue of Emperor Marcus Aurelius, a replica bronze. We continue with architectural wonders of antiquity and symbol of the Eternal City in the world, the Flavian Amphitheatre or Colosseum, the largest and most spectacular building built in Roman times to house the famous battles between gladiators and beasts. It built in 8 years (72-80 d. C.) by the Flavian dynasty on the land occupied by the artificial lake of the Domus Aurea for Nero. We continue with the Roman Forum, center of Roman public life. Also we will visit the Vatican Museums, pieces of Greek and Roman art, Egyptian, Etruscan, and naturally the great masterpieces of Renaissance art, with the frescoes of the Sistine Chapel . The restoration of the Sistine Chapel, hard twenty-year,getting restored the luster of its original color and allows us to enjoy fully, and in detail, of the biblical episodes in the vault and the Last Judgment by Michelangelo, with almost 400 figures represented in the most dramatic moment of human history. After breakfast, we will be transferred to Trastevere – “beyond the Tiber”. we will visit the neighborhood located on the right bank of the river. Here they lived artisans, fishermen, traders as well as the foreign community dedicated to port activities.
